Dante’s Trilogy I sits inside Menlyn Maine, Pretoria’s first green-city precinct, and it is the apartment we send business travellers and couples to.

Inside, it has been put together with care rather than simply furnished. The kitchen is fully equipped and runs on eco-friendly appliances, and opens onto a lounge and dining area, so a meal is something you make in the same room you relax in. The bedroom is en-suite, with a king bed. Two sliding doors open onto a balcony with city and mountain views, which is where the evening tends to end: a glass of wine and the sunset.

Fibre WiFi and DStv are included, with smart TVs in both the lounge and the bedroom, and a washer-dryer in the unit for stays that run long.

The Rooftop

The rooftop is the feature. A pool for the warm afternoons, and Koi 16, an Asian restaurant, a lift ride up from your door. That is the whole thing. Swim, eat well, and never leave the building if the day doesn’t call for it.

The building

Two free underground parking bays, 24/7 security and exterior cameras, and building access sent to you by WhatsApp before you arrive. It runs quietly, and it runs safely.

The location

Menlyn Park, one of the largest malls in the country, is a short walk away. Sun Time Square, the entertainment and dining precinct, sits right alongside it, and the N1 is minutes out when you need to move. Menlyn Maine itself was built to be walked, which is rarer in Pretoria than it should be.
